Frontiers invites the wider scientific communities and the general public to be part of the evaluation of research and to help determine what is scientifically excellent and socially relevant. For this fair, objective and genuinely democratic process to take place, readers need to become Frontiers members and register by providing basic biographic information and background on their education, positions and expertise. The Frontiers membership serves mainly four purposes:
here are five categories of users in the Frontiers system, each with a different set of privileges and benefits. Unregistered Users Expert Readers
Registration requires a biography with your education and professional experience and publications if any. As an expert reader you will receive a home page where you can set your preferences for notifications, PLUS you will have access to facilities that allow you to build up your reference library. Your visits of Frontiers articles and abstracts of external articles will contribute to the impact measures calculated by the Frontiers Evaluation System. Your profile requires verification by a Frontiers member.
Authors Authors are required to register before they submit an article. Registration requires a biography with your education, professional experience, research interests and list of publications. You will have all the privileges of expert readers PLUS you will also benefit from additional services such as an impact analysis (citations, downloads, Frontiers Related Articles impact, Frontiers Academic Excellence, Frontiers Social Relevance, etc) of all your articles within Frontiers as well as external to Frontiers. Your profile requires verification by a Frontiers member.
Referees/ Review Editors Referees can be invited to join the Review Editorial Boards of Specialty Journals and are required to register prior to reviewing any Frontiers articles. Registration requires a biography with your education, professional experience, research interests and list of publications. As a Review Editors you will have all the privileges of an Author, PLUS you can benefit from a spectrum of services that are exclusive to Frontiers Review Editors.
